Bloody Homophobia

Bloodstocks are at an all time low. Currently, only 4% of the UK’s population donates blood and the shortage in rare blood types is leaving a large number of people vulnerable.

The current stance in the UK is that men who have had sex with men within the past 12 months cannot donate blood. This ban is discriminatory; why is it only limited to homosexual men purely on their sexual behavior?

In light of recent scientific and medical advancements in the screening of the disease and treatment, combined with the urgent need to increase blood supply levels, we believe it is time this ban is re-examined.

As such, we are launching a petition with the hope of gaining 100,000 signatures in an attempt to get the matter debated in Parliament and will be campaigning throughout the year to raise awareness of this prejudicial ban.
